Narrative Therapy
Rewriting Your Story
Narrative Therapy is based on the understanding that the stories we tell about ourselves shape our identity and future. By re-examining and reshaping these narratives, clients can create a more useful and hopeful version of themselves.
My Approach as a
Narrative Therapist
I bring compassion, humour and empathy to my work, creating a safe and encouraging space for clients to explore and reshape their personal stories.

Key Principles of Narrative Therapy
The Person is Not the Problem:
Problems are seen as external to the individual, reducing self-blame and focusing on addressing the issue itself.
The Power of Stories:
Our personal narratives influence how we see ourselves and the world. Narrative therapy helps reframe these stories to open up new possibilities.
Externalisation:
By viewing the problem as separate from oneself, individuals can approach it objectively, reducing shame and blame.
Deconstruction:
This involves breaking down limiting, dominant narratives to uncover alternative perspectives that offer more freedom and flexibility.
Re-authoring:
Individuals are encouraged to rewrite their life stories to align with their values and preferred identity, supporting them to see themselves as the hero of their journey.
Cultural Context:
Narrative therapy acknowledges how culture and society influence personal identity and encourages exploring how these factors shape self-concept.
Collaboration:
The therapist and client work as partners, with the therapist supporting the client in exploring, challenging and re-framing their stories.
Unique Outcomes:
The therapist helps the client identify moments when they coped differently or acted in line with their preferred identity, offering new, more hopeful narratives.
These above principles aim to help individuals reshape their identities and gain greater agency, leading to a more fulfilling life.
