Meet Paula Moneypenny

Compassionate Counselling, Personalised Support

Hi, I'm Paula, a qualified and experienced counsellor, professional supervisor and educator committed to supporting individuals, families and professionals in health and social practice. With a Master of Counselling (First Class Honours) from the University of Waikato and a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Supervision from WINTEC, I bring academic expertise alongside years of practical experience.

I specialise in trauma recovery, attachment work, self-concept development and mindfulness-based approaches. My work as a Narrative Therapist is informed by compassion-focused therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I integrate these techniques to support emotional regulation, self-awareness and resilience.

As a Narrative Therapist, I believe the stories we tell about ourselves shape our identities. Through therapy, we can explore and rewrite these narratives to foster growth, empowerment and new possibilities.

I am a Registered Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC), adhering to its Code of Ethics to ensure safe, respectful and ethical practice.

A Fulbright scholar, my work is grounded in the principles of friendship, collaboration, peace, kindness, compassion and social justice.
