How I Work

I am a compassionate, empathic, gentle, encouraging and supportive counsellor and supervisor. I believe that a collaborative, safe and respectful therapeutic relationship enhances emotion regulation and promotes self-awareness and resilience. I work collaboratively through valuing the client’s agency, knowledge and resources. The focus of the work is discovering with the client that which supports and sustains them.

From a foundation of Narrative Therapy, I also utilise Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, ACT techniques; and teach skills such as developing mindful self-compassion, self-soothing skills, and relaxation. I offer relational skills and clinical training in treating trauma and traumatic memories. I also support clients with attachment and self-concept/esteem issues.

Along with face-to-face therapy, I also offer Telehealth (Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, phone etc) sessions.

I work with children, young people, adults, and groups to identify, reflect upon, and achieve the hopes and goals that are important to them in their life and relationships.

I provide professional supervision to practitioners in the fields of health and social practice (including counselling, occupational therapy, nursing, midwifery, social work, and human services).

I have a Master of Counselling (with First Class Honours) from the University of Waikato.

Work of Counselling

Counselling is an opportunity to have a conversation that invites care, reflection, respect and new learnings about the self and the potential to create new beginnings for a person’s life.
